Question
Is my excluded boyfriend covered if he's hit by another driver?
My insurance company sent me an exclusion letter for my boyfriend yesterday and I have been refusing to sign it. However, a lady hit him while he was driving my car. The police said that the other driver was at fault.
Answer
Sorry to hear about the accident. If the other person is at-fault they should cover all damages regardless of who was driving your car. If you don't exclude your boyfriend, there's a chance that the insurance company will add him to your plan. However, they may also choose to cancel your coverage altogether. You should follow up with the underwriting department of your insurer to see what your best course of action is.
