I don't have renters insurance
My roommate left a pot on the stove too long and set off the fire alarm. The sprinklers turned on and ruined everything in the apartment, including my furniture and clothes. What can I do?
If you do not have renters insurance, unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. Renters insurance would have protected your personal property. You never know what can happen and that is the purpose of insurance: to help you avoid financial hardships when unexpected events occur. As far as the damage to your home, since you are renting, the owner of the property is responsible to repair the damages. While purchasing renters insurance will not cover your current loss, it is well worth it and typically very affordable. Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
