Does a non-running vehicle need to be insured to be parked on the street?

I am trying to buy a truck that isn't running and I need to keep it parked on the street outside of my house.  Does it have to be insured while it's parked and not running?

In Washington, you would have to register the vehicle if it is going to be parked on the street. You wouldn't have to actually insure the truck until it is being driven on the road. However, you do not have to register the vehicle if it is being kept on private property.
