Question

If I pay the other driver's insurance, will it impact my driving record?

If the other I hit files a claim with their insurance but I pay their insurance company out-of-pocket, does it show up on my CLUE report? I told the party I hit that I would pay for their repairs out-of-pocket, but they filed a claim with their insurance anyway. I know this at-fault accident would increase my premium more in the long run than by paying for the damage myself. My car is fine. But now that they filed a claim with their insurance, can I still pay their insurance company myself without repercussions, or will it end up on my CLUE report now regardless, in which case I might as well use my own insurance?

Since the car insurance companies are involved it is highly likely that it will be listed on your CLUE report and impact your insurance premium. You should contact your insurance company and let them handle the claim since it will likely be reported either way. Insurance companies do not typically run the CLUE report after you start a policy because they would be aware of any claims that occurred once your policy started. With that being said, it doesn't mean that they will never run the report again. Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
