Question

How does being rear ended affect your car insurance in a no-fault state?

If I get hurt on an accident at not fault, how does using my coverage affect my insurance? I got hit from behind and I got hurt. I used my insurance to go to the doctor and now my price went up, and every insurance can see and quote me very high. What gives?

Because of the way Utah's no-fault car insurance works, every driver is required to file a claim with their own insurance company after an accident, regardless of who was at fault. This is typically covered by your Personal Injury Protection coverage. Unfortunately, this can make your car insurance very expensive as companies are wary of drivers with these types of claims even their cost and propensity for insurance fraud. Your best bet for finding affordable insurance is to shop around with as many companies as possible. Do that here with us.
