You must maintain insurance continuously for your SR-22 to be effective. An SR-22 is a filing with that state that informs them when you have insurance and when the policy cancels. It is the state's way of making sure you maintain insurance for the specified time period. You usually don't have to buy all of your coverage upfront, though many insurers may offer a discount if you pay in full each year. If you have any further questions or are looking for cheaper car insurance, please don't hesitate to ask.
