Question

Am I required to remove my ex-wife from my car insurance policy?

Can an ex-husband carry his ex-wife car insurance policy if they don’t resign to the same residence? And the judge order for the title of the cars to be moved to her name?

Yes, as long as she is listed as a driver on the policy, she can stay on her ex-husband’s insurance policy. With that being said, it is no longer the ex-husband’s responsibility to carry insurance on the car. This means he can remove his ex-wife without her permission or knowledge – although to avoid any future issues, I recommend informing her. In this instance, you need to be clear on who will have the policy on the vehicles. The ex-wife would be responsible for maintaining insurance on the vehicle but again that can be on the ex-husband’s policy. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
