Question

If my sister was involved in an accident while driving my car, should I file a claim?

My sister was driving my car and rear-ended a truck. The other vehicle is not damaged, but my car's bumper is pretty banged up. She wants to pay for the damage out of pocket, but should I also file a claim with my insurance company? I don't want my rate to go up.

I would definitely recommend letting her pay out of pocket so you can avoid the claim. If you do end up having to file a claim with your company the accident should be on her driving report since she was behind the wheel. You may see an increase in rate with your existing carrier but you can always shop around for a better rate and her accident shouldn't follow you. Best of luck!
