Do I still report an at-fault accident if I wasn't charged?
I accidentally hit a female pedestrian last month and while she received some physical injuries, I was never charged with anything. In fact, the case was vacated. Do I still have to report this incident to my insurance company?
Absolutely! Plus, most companies require you report any accident even if a claim isn't filed. Furthermore, since you caused harm to someone else, you are legally responsible for the medical bills. Your bodily injury liability coverage should take care of the injuries you caused. Check out our handy guide: When and How to File an Insurance Claim for more information on the claims filing proccess. Remember, most at-fault accidents will stay on your record for up to five years and often affect your car insurance rates. Best of luck!
