In Connecticut, which line item or part of my insurance covers my passengers if I am at fault?

Although Connecticut is no longer a No-Fault state, drivers still have the option to purchase medical payments coverage to pay for injuries they or their passengers suffer in an accident. This coverage would apply on a per person basis regardless of fault in the accident.

If I have car loan insurance but not an actual insurance policy, will my vehicle be covered if something happens?

It really will depend on what you mean by "car loan" insurance. If your finance company added comprehensive and collision coverage to your monthly car payment because your insurance policy canceled then you'll likely be covered only for the remaining amount on your loan.

Homeowners Insurance

Is my deck covered by my homeowners policy?

Since the deck you recently had built is attached to your home, the structure should be covered under the "dwelling" portion of your homeowners insurance. If the deck were not attached to your home then it would be covered under the other structures portion of your policy.

If I'm involved in an accident driving my grandmother's car, will the damage be covered?

Luckily, most insurance policies allow for permissive use drivers, so the damage you caused should be covered under your grandmother's policy as long as you aren't a full-time driver. Unfortunately, your grandmother's insurance rate is likely to increase after the claim since it will be considered an At Fault accident.

Does my son-in-law need to add his wife to his policy now that they are married?

If your son-in-law does not live in the same household as the policy holder (Grandfather) then he needs his own policy. His spouse will need to be listed as well, but since she's not licensed and won't be driving, she won't impact the rate if she is excluded from the policy.

Will Geico cover another driver who is insured but not on my policy?

You will need to contact Geico and ask them. Generally speaking, if someone regularly drives your vehicle then they need to be listed on your policy.
