Can I add coverage after hitting a deer?

This is actually considered insurance fraud. You can get in serious trouble if you are found claiming an event that occurred prior to you having coverage.

If I have gap insurance and totaled my car, but there is no gap between insurance payment and remaining loan balance, do I get a refund?

Not all gap insurance is written in the same manner, so you may have to refer to your insurer to get more information. From my understanding, if you pay off the loan and didn't use gap insurance to do so, they will probably refund some premiums paid back to you.

I was driving and the car in front of me hit a deer and I ran over it. Why won't my insurance cover it under comprehensive?

Hitting an animal is almost always covered under comprehensive coverage. Unless something else had happened, I would seek additional assistance with this claim because they should not be denying it.

I have full coverage and a non-owner hit a deer. Will insurance cover the damage?

As long as the driver is covered by the policy — they don't necessarily need to be listed — insurance should cover the damage. Most policies would cover a driver, who does not reside with you, borrowing the car.

How can I get points off my license?

Hello, Unfortunately, there is no way to instantly remove demerit points from your license since there was a collision. In a case where an animal is involved, insurers typically rule it to be safer to hit the animal than to swerve trying to miss it.

If your husband does not have collision coverage, then he does not have coverage for an at-fault accident. Typically single vehicle accidents (including swerving to avoid a deer) is considered at fault.

Can we process a claim with insurance if we did not call the police?

Since the other driver is at fault for the accident, you will want to file a claim with his insurance company. They would be the ones that will pay for your damages.

Should I file my second claim?

There's a couple of things to consider here. First, your first claim is considered a collision claim but your next claim would be considered a comprehensive claim.
