We will be purchasing our first car shortly before moving from WI to CA. How should we navigate car insurance?

Every state has separate laws, insurance plans, and registrations, but you shouldn't have an issue buying a vehicle in one state and moving to another state. If at all possible, I would wait and buy the vehicle in California — this way, you would only pay all the fees once.

Should I drop full coverage for 2008 Camry LE

A general rule of thumb is if the value of your vehicle is less than $4,000, it doesn't make financial sense to keep these coverages. You can determine the value of your vehicle by using websites like Kelley Blue Book and NADA online.

How much will my insurance cover if I have an accident while towing my friends trailer?

Each policy is going to have different guidelines as to what they will and will not cover. You will definitely want to check with your specific company to find out if your policy will cover the damages.

It's important to keep in mind that medical payments coverage pays for your injuries as well. In addition, what if your passengers are your children or family members?

Should I keep full coverage on my vehicle or switch to liability?

The first thing I would do would be to determine a rough estimate of the value of the vehicle. I recommend using NADA guides or some other valuation service like Kelly Blue Book.

If I'm not considered at fault in an accident but my insurance lapsed, will my injuries still be covered?

If the other driver is 100% at fault then your insurance status should have no bearing on fault or you being covered by their insurance policy. I would recommend contacting the other driver's insurance company to start the claims process.
