Question

Will my homeowners policy cover my boat?

I recently purchased a boat and not sure if I need additional insurance for it? I’ll mainly use it for fishing.

While your homeowners policy can extend to boats, it only offers coverage if they are on your property and is normally limited to a dollar amount well below your boat’s value. This also doesn’t consider the liability that you encounter every time you use your boat. For watercraft, a standard boat insurance policy will cover you on a much broader spectrum than anything your home insurance may provide. I would recommend contacting your agent or insurance company about a boat policy; you may get a discount for bundling.
