Dallas Car Insurance by Credit Rating

Your credit history can play a big part in how much you pay for your policy. An insurance provider can see someone with poor credit as a potential liability. Improving your credit score can save you a good sum of money. Those in the bottom credit tier (300-579) typically pay more than twice as much on premiums than those in the top credit tier (800-850). The greatest benefit of better credit comes from boosting from Very Poor (300-579) to Fair (580-669), by which drivers can save nearly $1,331 per year.

Very Poor$3,808
Very Good$2,016

Dallas Auto Insurance by Accident or Violation History

Perhaps unsurprisingly, your driving history can have an impact on what you pay for your insurance coverage. If you don't have a clean driving record, your insurance provider will most definitely increase your premiums. Being involved in an auto accident or a string of moving violations like speeding can cost you money on your policy. All in all, if you want to find cheap auto insurance for your vehicle, safe driving habits could be a great help.

Do you realize how much a car accident or violation history can cost you in terms of car insurance rates? An at-fault accident with greater than $2000 of damages will increase your car insurance premiums more than other driving violations. Being at-fault in an accident with damages exceeding $2,000 costs you another $483 per year in premiums compared to an accident with damages less than $1,000. Drivers with a DUI in Dallas have rates that surpass the city average ($2,138) by $809. Reckless driving will bump up the cost of your insurance policy as well, with average rates of $3,012.

Dallas Auto Insurance by Gender and Marital Status

In Dallas, there are many driver characteristics that can play a role in car insurance premiums, including gender and marital status. While many may think that males pay substantially more for coverage, on average their premiums are only slightly more costly than those for females.

However, your marital status can actually change your premiums quite a bit. Single individuals spend approximately $210 more per year compared to those who are married. Rates for those who are widowed are also significantly cheaper than rates for those who are single.

Turning 60 triggers an increase in car insurance premiums, but up until that point drivers can anticipate premium reductions when they transition between age groups. At $1,828, drivers in their 50s have the smallest car insurance premiums among any age group. However, those in their 60s ($1,902) aren’t paying much more. What drives up car insurance rates in Dallas?

Where you live in Dallas affects your car insurance rates. Besides your driving history and credit score, where you live is one of the biggest contributing factors to the car insurance rates you'll pay. The reason? Crime, theft and uninsured motorists vary by zip code. So if you find yourself in a neighborhood that doesn’t play well with others, car insurance companies may consider you a high risk to insure, meaning: your rates could be higher than those of a pal who lives just around the block. And, unfortunately Dallas is no exception to the rule. From zip code 75287 to 75242, premiums rise by 36 percent—that’s $511.

Can I cancel insurance on a financed vehicle if I have gap insurance?

In most cases, gap insurance is only applicable if the vehicle is totaled in an accident — not due to mechanical or motor issues due to wear-and-tear. So it would not apply in your situation.

Can I pay for all my insurance policies at once?

Each policy would be separate. They would take out a different payment for each policy.

Driving record transfer from state to state

Most companies will only run the current MVR so in your case Texas would be pulled and the Illinois ticket will not show up. The issue would be if the underwriters pull the Illinois records and see the ticket they will add it to your policy after you have bound it.

At-fault driver gave me the wrong information

I would contact the police with what info you have. If you have the plate they should be able to locate the owner and either pull his insurance info or track them down to get it again.
