The Indy 500: Celebrating the 100th Race in Photos

Sunday marks the 100th Indianapolis 500 race, an annual race of the fastest cars out there, which has been going on since 1911. (Note that 2016 marks the 100th running of the Indy 500, not 100 years since the Indy 500. The first race was in 1911, but World War I caused races to be skipped in 1917 and 1918, and World War II caused races to be skipped from 1942-1945.)

Since we love all things cars here at Quoted, we took a look back at the many decades of the Indy 500, which show a pretty intense development of speedy automobiles, safety features, and other driving-related technology. (Who knowsmaybe in the next decade we’ll have a driverless Indy 500? But what fun would that be…)
