Austin tech startup The Zebra named a “Top Workplace” based on employee feedback about culture and optimism for company’s future


AUSTIN, Texas — November 14, 2016 The Zebra, the nation’s most visited car insurance comparison marketplace, today announced that the Austin American-Statesman has named the company a 2016 Top Workplace based on employee feedback about the company’s culture, sense of connection and collaboration, and opportunities for the business – and the employees themselves – to succeed.

WorkplaceDynamics administered the anonymous employee feedback survey to measure alignment, execution, connection, and other critical aspects of a superb workplace environment.

“The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest. And oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits,” CEO of WorkplaceDynamics Doug Claffey said. “But to be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health. Throughout 2016, The Zebra has continued to disrupt the massive $220 billion auto insurance industry, grow its revenue, and become the most visited auto insurance marketplace in the U.S.

In January of this year, The Zebra announced its $17 million Series A funding round, which included investment from Mark Cuban and Mike Maples, Jr. as well as several investors new to the Austin market including Daher Capital and Ballast Point Ventures, among others. The Zebra moved into a new downtown office in June and will continue to grow the team throughout the rest of 2016 and into 2017.
