Question
Does North Carolina accept proof of insurance on my phone if I were to get pulled over?
I just started my policy and don't have a hard copy. Can I show proof on my phone or do I need to print a hard copy?
Answer
Good news! North Carolina now allows for digital proof of car insurance so you no longer need to print a hard copy to keep in your vehicle and can instead use your phone. In fact, as of October 2022, 49/50 states and Washington D.C. now permit drivers to use an electronic insurance card during a traffic stop. What a relief!
