The short answer is yes, your sister can insure your car, but she will need to make sure you are listed as a driver as well as an additional interest. An additional interest is someone who has a financial stake in the car, and since you own the car you are financially invested in it.

If you need, The Zebra can quote you with several auto insurance carriers easily online, or you can also give us a call at  833-768-7789. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

You could claim the damage as a hit-and-run, but that's technically not what happened so I would avoid lying to your insurance company. I would recommend getting a repair estimate first so you can factor that into your decision. The only way to avoid causing an increase to your family member's poli…

Do I need long-term rental car insurance?

Thanks for reaching out to The Zebra. Having insurance on any vehicle you drive is recommended (whether it's a rental or personal vehicle), and wanting to carry it for 75 days leaves you with two main options.Option#1 (likely the simplest) is to buy the insurance offered by the rental company, but …

If I sell my car and cancel my insurance, will my rates be higher later on?

You are right — having a lapse in coverage will cause your rates to be higher in the future. I recommend getting a non-owners policy, which it sounds like Progressive is already offering to you. This is essentially a liability-only policy when you do not own a vehicle, or are between vehicle owners…

Does the name on the title affect car insurance rates?

No, your rates should not change by putting the car in your son's name if he is already listed on the policy. Who the car is registered under does not impact the rate at all. You just need to make sure all drivers are listed on the policy. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesita…
