Question

Should I still shop around if things are fine?

I’ve been with Amica for about five years now (both home and auto) and honestly, I can’t complain. Their agents have always been polite, billing’s straightforward, and I’ve never had any surprises. I haven’t filed a claim yet, but when I’ve called it's felt easy and personal.

But I get mailers from other companies promising lower rates, and even your site says to shop every six months. Is it really worth my time to compare if I haven’t had any claims, things are fine, etc.?

If you’re happy and your rates feel fair, there’s rarely a strong reason to move just for the sake of change. Amica consistently earns some of the highest marks in the industry for customer satisfaction and claims service. While you haven’t had to test that yet, it’s a good sign that things have gone smoothly on the billing and communication side.

That said, it never hurts to check quotes, especially if you’ve had life changes (a new car, a new home, improved credit, or fewer miles driven). You're also right about us at The Zebra suggesting that you shop around every six months. It isn't a hard and fast rule, and doesn't always apply to everyone (I don't even compare that often, and I work in insurance). You might find a lower rate, but keep in mind that cheaper doesn’t always mean better coverage or service. Some companies are more aggressive with introductory pricing and then raise rates later. Amica’s increases tend to be steadier and more predictable.

If you’ve had a great experience, it’s perfectly reasonable to stay put. But if you’re simply curious, getting a few quotes for comparison won’t affect your policy; just make sure you’re comparing the same coverage levels and deductibles so it’s apples-to-apples.

In short: if you value reliability, communication, and peace of mind, Amica’s one of the few insurers where “no news” really is good news.
