Question

Westfield penalties compared to other companies

I don't have a great record and the big companies want to charge an arm and a leg. Just wondering if Westfield is better since they're local. Thanks.

For most drivers, Westfield’s pricing for minor mistakes like a speeding ticket or small accident tends to land right around the national average, sometimes even a bit lower. Where things really jump is after a major violation, like a DUI. In that case, their rates can climb well above what you’d see from many standard carriers (roughly 35% to 40% higher than average in national comparisons).

That said, Westfield is often more forgiving toward credit-based pricing, so drivers with lower credit scores might actually find them slightly cheaper than other mainstream insurers.

So overall, they’re middle-of-the-pack on penalties: not unusually harsh, but not lenient either. Their pricing rewards clean records and agent-based relationships more than risky profiles.

Also, if your driving history includes multiple tickets, at-fault accidents, or a DUI, you may fall into what insurers call the “nonstandard” or “high-risk” market. That’s where companies specialize in covering drivers traditional carriers might decline or rate very high; think Progressive’s high-risk division, The General, or Dairyland. Westfield isn’t really in that space; they cater more to standard drivers with a few dings, not ongoing risk.

If you’re in that nonstandard category, it’s smart to compare quotes from both sides, traditional carriers like Westfield and high-risk specialists, to see where your profile fits best. Our agents can also help you out with that if you want help navigating your options.
