Question

How do I get a false claim on my record removed?

I believe I have a false claim on my record. Wanting to see if I can get this removed and how I go about that?

I called my homeowners insurance to see if my dishwasher that stopped working was covered and they filed it as a claim when it was just an inquiry. How can I get that removed? Now my rates are through the roof and I didn't even know about it until now, which is two years later as I'm buying a second home.

The best course of action would be to call that insurance company and request all paperwork associated with that claim. It should show as a zero dollar payout, which you could show to other companies to dispute the claim.

If you want to fight it off your record, you'd need to look up your CLUE report from LexisNexis and open a dispute regarding that claim. You can use the proof provided by the insurance company.

If I backed into my neighbor's expensive vehicle, should I file a claim or pay for the damage out of pocket?

I would recommend waiting to hear back from your neighbor about the estimates. That's really going to be what helps you make your decision. If the repair costs are reasonable, you might consider paying for the damage out of your own pocket. Our 2016 State of Insurance Report shows that, in Flo…

Will insurance cover a leak in my car's sunroof?

Insurance will only cover things that are a result of a loss. So if the leak in the sunroof was caused by a covered peril — like damage from bad weather — this would count towards a comprehensive claim. If the leak was caused by wear-and-tear, your insurance will not cover it.While your first compr…

What do I do if a person hit me from the back and now is claiming to their insurance that I hit them?

Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I can gather, it appears that she hit the rear of your car while you were waiting at the gate of your apartment complex. If this is true, it's going to be quite difficult for her to make the case that you backed into her. That said, with no witness…

Do I need a police report to file an uninsured motorist claim?

For uninsured motorist claims, it's likely that your insurer would want a police report of the incident. What I don't know is if it would be possible to still get a police report and redo the claim. If they make you pay the higher deductible at the end of this, make sure they mark the cla…
