Unfortunately, the only way you can dispute a claim on your driving history is to contact LexisNexis, which is the software company that houses the database for accident reports. Keep in mind, if your collision coverage paid for your claim, then it will still be listed as an at-fault accident.

You can also reach out to AAA and discuss the claim with them and maybe figure out why they are showing the claim to be at-fault in the first place. Good luck, and if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Will my insurance have to pay more than the car is worth?

This can depend. In California, a car is deemed totaled if the cost of repairs plus the scrap value of the vehicle is greater or equal to the actual cash value of the vehicle. Do I need a police report to file a claim with insurance if I damaged my own vehicle?

You do not need a police report to open a claim. Since it was a single-vehicle accident, you will be charged as at-fault if the claim is paid, which would result in a higher premium. I would get an estimate for the damage and see if it's worth filing a claim for, and possibly pay out-of-pocket…

I want to get my own car insurance, but my mom won't let me.

Because your mother has an umbrella policy through AAA, she is likely required to have you listed as a driver on her full coverage policy. This is a common requirement with car insurance carriers who offer umbrella insurance. The only thing you could do is have your mom check with AAA to see if the…
