AAA vs. Erie: by credit level

If you have very bad credit, Erie could be preferable to AAA. On average, Erie offers better premiums than AAA for drivers with credit scores of lower than 580. Drivers with excellent credit — a score of 800 or better — should favor View common insurance rates by credit tier for Erie and AAA below.

AAA vs. Erie: by citation

If you're dealing with an at-fault accident, speeding violation, reckless driving citation, or DUI on your driving résumé, Erie could be a better choice than AAA. Every car insurance company prices policies differently after a violation, so it's worth comparing quotes to understand which insurer suits you.

INSURER RATES BY VIOLATION: ERIE VS. AAA
Violation AAA avg. annual premium Erie avg. annual premium
At-fault accident (damage < $1,000) $4,078 $893
At-fault accident (damage > $1,000) $4,002 $772
DUI/DWI $5,530 $1,163
Reckless driving $5,530 $760
Speeding ticket $4,078 $747

AAA vs. Erie: by age

Car insurance companies use a driver's age to outline potential risk, pricing premiums accordingly. Insurance is often most expensive for teens — because of their inexperience — and more affordable for drivers aged 25 or older. Since each insurance company rates ages in a different way, it's worth doing some comparison shopping.

As a general rule, teen drivers should choose Erie over AAA: the former's average annual rates are $8,018 less than the latter's.
