How does Acuity handle hail surge?

Last storm season was insane. If it happens again, does Acuity keep up with claims, or am I waiting weeks like last time with my old company?

Acuity actually handles major hailstorms better than some companies because they quickly bring in catastrophe response adjusters and team up with local repair shops to fast-track estimates. You’ll still wait longer than usual after a major storm (realistically, 7–14 days for inspections in busy areas) but you’re less likely to feel abandoned or ignored like with some giant "1-800 insurers."

Acuity also lets you start repairs before the adjuster visit in some cases if you go through a partner shop. That can save you a lot of time when shops are booking weeks out!

To avoid delays next time:

  • Pre-select a preferred body shop now so you’re already on their list
  • Add rental reimbursement to your policy ahead of hail season
  • Take photos of your car today—helps avoid repair disputes later
  • Ask your agent if Acuity offers “virtual estimates” in your area

If you want help comparing how other companies perform in hail-heavy regions, The Zebra's agents can walk you through which insurers handle storm claims best in your ZIP code. Best of luck during hail season!

How do I get a false claim off my insurance report?

I would call my prior insurance company (your renters provider) showing the false claim and see how they have it marked. I would also have them send confirmation that the claim was dropped and not paid out. Most companies will allow you to dispute the claim if you have proof on hand that shows it i…

Can I remove a ticket for no insurance if I get insurance now?

No - even if you had a policy begin that day, it would not help getting your ticket dismissed. Because insurance is required in your state, you will still need to have insurance. I recommend getting a car insurance policy as soon as possible to avoid any penalties. Furthermore, you will have to sho…

If my car was hit by a family member, can I claim the damage with my insurance company to help them avoid a higher rate?

You could claim the damage as a hit-and-run, but that's technically not what happened so I would avoid lying to your insurance company. I would recommend getting a repair estimate first so you can factor that into your decision. The only way to avoid causing an increase to your family member's poli…
