No - even if you had a policy begin that day, it would not help getting your ticket dismissed. Because insurance is required in your state, you will still need to have insurance. I recommend getting a car insurance policy as soon as possible to avoid any penalties. Furthermore, you will have to show proof of insurance currently to avoid any additional penalties with your state. Check out our guide if you're interested in a quote for an auto insurance policy.

At-fault driver lied about having insurance

I would contact the police and let them know the insurance information provided is invalid. Give them all the information you have available to you; the other driver's license plate, police report, all photos of the incident, etc. Next, I would contact your insurance company and let them know …

My insurer says I have past speeding tickets, but I've never had one. How do I address false and inaccurate citations on my record?

I think it's worth trying to resolve it because a better driving record can help your rate quite a bit. If multiple insurance companies are showing that you have these tickets, then I would call the state and see what they have on your license — this could simply be an error. I suggest you get…

Why do I have to pay a deductible if I was hit by an uninsured driver?

Unfortunately, recovering the cost of your deductible, if the other driver is uninsured, is up to you. I would definitely recommend asking to speak with a supervisor at your insurance company to see if you have any other options available, but you may have to pay the deductible simply to start the …
