Who pays for hit and run damage if there's no UMPD coverage in NY?

I just moved to NY from NJ. I just realized they don't offer Uninsured Physical Damage coverage as we did in NJ. So who pays for Uninsured Physical Damage to my car?

Uninsured Motorist Property Damage (UMPD) is not a coverage that is offered in New York. If your policy has collision coverage, you can now use that to repair any damages from a hit-and-run. Or if the situation calls for it, you can also take legal action against the at-fault party. For more information, see our guide to uninsured motorist coverage.

Good luck and if you have any additional questions don't hesitate to ask.
