Question

Does Hanover only sell through agents, or can I get a quote online?

I tried looking up Hanover online, but couldn’t find a place to actually get a quote; it just kept sending me to agents. Is that normal?

Hanover works a little differently than most of the big national companies. They don’t sell policies directly online; instead, they work through independent insurance agents. Those agents can quote Hanover for you alongside other companies and help tailor your coverage, especially if you’ve got multiple vehicles, a home, or higher-value items to insure.

It’s an old-school setup, but it’s intentional — Hanover focuses on personalized service rather than quick, automated quotes. That said, it can make them harder to compare online since you won’t find instant pricing like you do with GEICO or Progressive.

If you’re comfortable working with an agent, it can actually be an advantage — you’ll get help navigating the options and finding discounts you might miss on your own. But if you prefer to do everything online, Hanover may not be the best fit.

If you’re shopping around, it’s smart to talk to an agents (like one of ours here at The Zebra) who represents multiple carriers. That way, you can see how Hanover stacks up in your area without committing to just one company.

There's a couple of things to think about here. First, your boyfriend's sister cannot and should not insure the vehicle simply because she does not drive it. Is there a grace period for buying car insurance in GA from private seller?

Therefore, we…

Are Amica's rates actually higher?
