    AssuranceAmerica car insurance coverage options

All the auto insurance coverage you need to drive legally can be found through AssuranceAmerica — but don’t expect much more. When generating a quote online, you are given three tiers of coverage to choose from. Coverages can be customized — to an extent — with the option of adding personal injury protection (PIP), towing and accidental death. It’s also worth noting that AssuranceAmerica does not offer anything more than the state minimum amount of liability coverage, with no way of raising your coverage limits.

    Minimum coverage
    Minimum coverage

If you only need the legal minimum insurance coverage required by your state, this tier offers the state-mandated amount of liability coverage.

    full coverage
    Full coverage

Including comprehensive and collision coverage for your vehicle in addition to liability, AssuranceAmerica's full coverage offers physical coverage for your own vehicle.

    premium coverage
    Premium coverage

This tier of coverage includes liability, comprehensive, collision, uninsured motorist and medical payments coverage.

AssuranceAmerica auto insurance discounts and reward programs

Compared to many of the big insurance players on the market, most smaller or non-standard insurers tend to offer fewer discounts for policyholders. AssuranceAmerica only offers four.

Discounts based on your insurance policy

    • Prior insurance: Offer proof of your prior insurance to receive an AssuranceAmerica discount on your next auto policy.

Discounts based on the driver or vehicle

    • Homeowner: Policyholders who own their homes may be eligible for some savings.
    • Military: Those who have served in the armed forces can receive a military discount upon proof of active service.
    • Warehouse club members: Members of Sam’s Club, Costco and BJ’s can qualify for this discount.

How to make policy changes with AssuranceAmerica

AssuranceAmerica focuses on a highly personalized customer experience, operating mostly over the phone or in person to service customers. Policyholders must call into its customer service desk to make changes to their policies, including changing coverage tiers, cancellations and adding or dropping drivers or vehicles. Customers can make payments online, but further modifications will need to be made over the phone, in-person with your local agent or by mail. AssuranceAmerica does not have a mobile app or offer a telematics program.

Is AssuranceAmerica a good insurance company?

If you’re looking to drive legally as soon as possible, have past infractions or citations and live in a state in which AssuranceAmerica offers insurance, it could be a great company for non-standard auto insurance. You can either choose to purchase your policy online or consult with an insurance agent at a retail location if you need more personalized assistance. However, it’s important to understand the limits in coverage and how the insurer's questionable financial standing might affect your experience if you need to file a claim or work with the company's claims department. Compared to many other insurance companies, AssuranceAmerica’s coverage and discounts are lackluster if you’re looking for a robust car insurance policy.

Comparing policies from as many auto insurance companies as possible is the most effective way to score a budget-friendly insurance rate and the coverage you want.
