Question
How to get a handicap pass without a car
My mother don't have a car registered in her name but needs Handicap pass. How can she obtain one? In NC your handicap parking pass now comes with a registration to your car. My mother does not own a car. Her daughters take her to and from dr. appointments sometimes. Do she have to have a car registered in her name in order to get a Handicap parking pass.
Answer
According to the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), you can apply for a handicap place card. The place card does not require you to own a car. The place card would only be valid for use when your mother is a passenger in the vehicle.  Here is more information from the NCDMV on how to apply for the permit and additional information you may find useful. Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
