San Antonio car insurance rates by provider

One of the most important determinants of your car insurance rates is the insurance company you work with. In San Antonio, USAA offers the cheapest rates for the average insurance customer, though eligibility is restricted to those in the armed forces and their immediate families. However, the best car insurance company for you is based on a number of different factors.

The auto insurance coverage that you choose will also impact what you pay for your policy. For instance, many states only require drivers to carry bodily injury and property damage liability insurance, but there are many additional options available. While it can seriously increase your premiums, adding full coverage (collision coverage or comprehensive coverage purchased together) can add protection for your vehicle. These coverage options will also require a deductible that you are responsible for, however, which policyholders get to set at the onset of a policy. In most cases, a higher deductible will lead to cheaper insurance rates. Also worth considering are add-ons like underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage, roadside assistance and personal injury protection (PIP). These coverages can also increase your overall car insurance premiums, but the protection that they provide is often worth it.

Many auto insurers also offer car insurance discounts. Policyholders can be rewarded for keeping a clean driving record, paying in full at the start of a policy, or bundling renters or homeowners coverage with their car insurance coverage. If you're a good driver who is searching for the cheapest car insurance, make sure to ask about money-saving opportunities offered by your insurance provider.

Recent Questions:

Should I file a claim if my son damaged our cars in the driveway?

Considering that you have a young driver on your policy and your rates are already inflated due to a recent claim, I would recommend getting a repair estimate first to see if you can afford to pay for the damage out of pocket. At fault accidents in Texas have an average impact of about $850 extra per year for 3 years from the date of the incident, and you may have to pay a deductible for each vehicle.

What is full coverage?

This can be extremely confusing, but essentially it means your company will no longer provide you with comprehensive or collision coverage. You can check out our article about full coverage by clicking the link.

When do I have to pay my deductible

Simply put, no. Your deductible only applies to your car through your collision and comprehensive coverage.

Do I need PIP?

First of all, thank you for your service! It sounds like you have outstanding health insurance for yourself, and potentially your family as well. It may not be necessary in your current situation to carry PIP, but here are a few reasons why it may make sense to add it to your policy: Your health coverage has a high deductible - PIP coverage on Texas auto policies does not have a deductible so, if you are injured in an accident that is your fault, this coverage kicks in immediately.
