Question

Why am I getting quotes that are so drastically different?

How is it possible that I'm getting a quote from Progressive for $636 for six months, then I get quotes from other companies that are significantly higher? Why does it vary so much? I'm a single driver, I would expect that to be almost the same across the board.

Thank you for reaching out to The Zebra!

Insurance quoting and rating is a very complex process, and it can get a little confusing. When you quote something on our website, the coverages you were quoted might not be exactly the same which can cause variances in the price. Specifically in Florida, there are a lot of coverages that we recommend but are not required. Furthermore, Progressive also has different avenues where drivers can get rates from them. For each method you obtain a quote, it might offer the same customer a different price.

Progressive can give you different rates if you were to call them directly yourself, versus if you were to go through an independent agent or if you were to go through a broker (like The Zebra). Each unique way you get a quote will give you, the customer, a different rate. For you specifically, it might be cheaper to get a policy directly through Progressive, while for a single driver in Texas, it might be cheaper to get it through a marketplace or broker like The Zebra. I know this is a little confusing, but Progressive sees this as a way to better control their business.

We always recommend getting multiple quotes to compare so you can find the best deal on auto insurance. You can also try getting those quotes in different ways. Feel free to call our agency to get a personalized quote at 888-444-8949 and speak to a licensed insurance advisor. They will be able to assist you with any additional questions you have about getting auto insurance quotes.
