GEICO vs. MetLife: by credit level

If you have very bad credit, GEICO could be preferable to GEICO. On average, GEICO offers cheaper rates than MetLife for prospective clients with credit scores of lower than 580. Those with exceptional credit — a score of 800-plus — should favor GEICO, which typically beats MetLife by $229 per year. Check out average insurance rates by credit score for MetLife and GEICO below.

Credit level GEICO avg. annual premium MetLife avg. annual premium
Very Poor (300-579) $2,051 $3,495

GEICO vs. MetLife: by citation

If you are saddled with an at-fault collision, ticket, reckless driving violation, or DWI on your driving résumé, GEICO could be a better choice than MetLife. Each car insurance company prices its policies differently, so always do your due diligence and compare quotes to understand which insurer suits you.

Violation GEICO avg. annual premium MetLife avg. annual premium
At-fault accident (damage < $1,000) $1,857 $2,598
At-fault accident (damage > $1,000) $1,580 $1,679
DUI/DWI $2,550 $3,219
Reckless driving $2,238 $3,219
Speeding ticket $1,395 $2,085

GEICO vs. MetLife: by age

Car insurance companies use age to outline potential risk, assigning rates accordingly. An insurance policy is typically priciest for teens — due to their increased odds of being involved in an accident — and more affordable for drivers aged 25 or older. Because every car insurance company prices age brackets in a different way, it's a smart move to shop around.

As a general rule, teen drivers should choose GEICO over MetLife: GEICO offers average yearly savings of $2,926 versusMetLife.

Age tier GEICO avg. annual premium MetLife avg. annual premium
Teens $3,508 $6,434
20s $1,438 $2,457
30s $1,218 $2,457
40s $1,189 $1,590
50s $1,160 $1,520
60s $1,065 $1,414

Finances aside, GEICO and MetLife each come with pros and cons, including their discounts, perks, customer satisfaction ratings, and financial stability. Dive into the data before making your decision.
