Jean Lucey, CPCU

Jean Lucey has researched and written about insurance matters for well over 30 years. A current member of The Zebra's Insurance Expert Review Board, she received her undergraduate degree and a Masters Degree in Library Science from the University at Albany (New York). After several years as a school librarian, Jean worked at an independent insurance agency and earned a New York State insurance broker’s license. Subsequently, a relocation to Boston facilitated a combination of education and experience when she began working at the Insurance Library Association of Boston.

During her 33-year tenure as Director of that institution, her duties included assisting insurance professionals, accountants, lawyers, and the general public with reference and research pursuits in the insurance field, as well as facilitating a wide variety of seminars and classes. After attaining her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation, Jean was active both in the Boston chapter and in the national organization, serving for several years as the editor of the quarterly newsletter of what was then known as the CPCU’s Consulting, Litigation, and Expert Witness section.

She contributed a number of articles to publishers in the insurance field, and was appointed by the Massachusetts Division of Insurance to advise on the licensing process in the state, which involved writing and reviewing licensing examination items on both the state and national levels. Currently, Jean serves as a faculty member of the IIAA Virtual University, through which she responds to inquiries from agents on a frequent basis. She lives with her husband in Boston’s South End neighborhood.
