Can I drive off the lot with just an SR22 in California?

I'm trying to buy a used car. i have non-owners SR22 insurance. Can I drive off the lot with that? I will add full coverage when I get home.

No, you need to have comprehensive and collision coverage to drive off the lot if you are financing the car. Comprehensive and collision coverage protects against physical damage to the car. Also, your SR-22 non-owners policy only covers you driving a car that you do not own or drive regularly. We can quote you with several companies at The Zebra or you can give us a call at 833-768-7789. Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Does car insurance cover a locksmith?

If you have roadside assistance on your insurance policy then it is extremely likely that your policy will cover a locksmith to unlock your vehicle. You might even be able to get your vehicle "re-keyed" under your roadside assistance coverage if you aren't able to find your keys.

Can I get an SR22 when I don't own a car?

In the event that your state has suspended your license and requires that you have an SR22 then you will need to purchase an auto insurance policy. For people who do not own a car but are required to carry an SR22 then the solution is a non-owners insurance policy.
