Question

How do I dispute a homeowners insurance claim?

I believe that there was a bogus claim made on my insurance. I went to make a claim for water damage, but the insurance company does not want to cover it. They say that a claim had been made, but I never did this or received payment. What steps can I take to fix this?

Sorry to hear about your recent troubles. Unfortunately, to dispute a homeowners claim such as this, the best way forward is to seek legal advice. Furthermore, you will need to contact LexisNexis, the company that provides the CLUE report (also known as your claims history report). This will help you find out as much as possible about the claim in question. It's worth noting that some homeowners policies offer identity theft protection, which could come in handy in this case.

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
