Got into an accident and didn't get their insurance info

My father was involved in a fender bender. He was at a stop sign and the driver behind him dinged him. My dad didn't get the other driver's insurance information, on the state registration information. What can we do? I think the damage will be around $500.

I recommend your father contacting his insurance company and informing them of the situation. Providing them with all available information including the other driver's state registration information. In order to register your vehicle, you first need insurance. So it's a good bet they have insurance and your insurance company can use their available resources to track them down. For more information, see our guide to filing auto insurance claims.

What happens if you hit a rental car?
