Question

Can my fiancé and I share an insurance policy?

My insurance company is saying that I need my own policy, instead of sharing one with my fiancé, because we don't live together.  I only stay at my own apartment two days a week, but I stay at my fiance's address five days a week.  Does this count as "living together" for insurance purposes?

Can I insure my wife's car if the title is in her name?

If you are married then there shouldn't be any issue with you insuring the vehicle. If the registration is also in her name then she will need to be listed on the policy. In fact, a married couple generally qualifies for lower rates than people listed on separate policies so it would make the most …

Should both my girlfriend and I be on the car title?

I would only put the title in one name — whoever will own and register the vehicle. Putting two people on the title may only complicate things unnecessarily and make it harder to sell. As far as the insurance goes, you would both need to be listed drivers on the policy if you share the vehicle and …

Does my insurance cover the damage to trailer even though I wasn't hauling it?

The claim should be covered by your insurance company as long as your policy includes permissive use. Permissive use means that claims will be covered if you give someone (who doesn't drive the vehicle regularly or lives with you) permission to drive the vehicle. Keep in mind, when a claim is paid …

Husband is in prison, how do I handle the car insurance?

You can exclude your husband from the policy if he is not driving the car. This means he would not be covered to drive but his driving history and status would not impact your rates. Sometimes there is an additional fee for having an excluded driver but that will vary by company. We can quote you a…
