If you are going to have historical or classic plates you are going to fall into special types of plans. Personal auto plans that most companies offer will not adequately cover what you need. That, or they will charge you more than they should. I highly recommend checking out Hagerty for their services.

Keep in mind, however, that many classic car policies restrict how often you can drive the covered vehicle. If you require the car for driving to work everyday, make sure that it will be covered by the policy.

Do I have to file a claim with my insurance even when I'm not at fault?

I would not recommend speaking with your insurance company unless the other driver refuses to pay for the damages. Because you have the police report and hopefully the other driver's insurance information, you should call their insurance company and begin the claims process. If you do not have…

Why is car insurance so expensive in Kentucky?

Kentucky is much more expensive due to their insurance laws. Indiana only requires you carry liability insurance. KY has a law that requires you to carry Personal Injury Protection. This covers medical costs regardless of fault in an accident. You may hear people call it "no-fault" Insura…

How can an insurance company add an accident to your record that never happened?

I would contact the insurance company that listed the claim and start a dispute. They really shouldn't be able to put you down for this claim. I imagine it was an error made on their part if it wasn't even your insured vehicle. If the company is uncooperative, you may want to dispute it w…

Am I still covered for liability coverage if I drive my car in a parade?

Yes, you should be covered for liability while driving in a parade. Many people who drive in parades tend to have classic or modified vehicles which often require different types of insurance coverage, but under your circumstances I don't think that would be required. Still, you may want to ch…
