Question

Should I be worried about a winter driving claim with Travelers?

I’ve been with Travelers for about a year now, but I haven’t had to file a claim yet. Last winter I slid on some ice with my old insurance company, and it was a nightmare — constant back-and-forth and my car sat in the shop for weeks. Honestly, I’m nervous about going through that again. If I do need to file a claim with Travelers, how good are they really at getting things fixed and paid quickly?

I don’t blame you for being cautious after your last experience! With Travelers, most people find the claims process smoother than average. You can report a claim anytime online or by phone, and they usually get an adjuster assigned quickly. A lot of drivers also like their ConciergeCLAIM repair program — if there’s a shop near you in Albany, they’ll coordinate directly with the repair facility and guarantee the work, which saves you from chasing updates.

That said, no company is perfect. Like every insurer, Travelers can see delays when a big storm hits and claims pile up. But overall, they tend to handle everyday fender benders and weather-related damage more efficiently than some bigger-name competitors.

Since you mentioned winter, one tip I’d give is to check whether your policy includes rental reimbursement and glass coverage. Those little add-ons can make a huge difference if you’re stuck without a car after a slide-off or dealing with cracked windshields from salt and ice. Even if you don’t use them every year, they can take a lot of stress out of a bad situation.

If you’re unsure what coverage you’ve got right now, it might be worth pulling up your policy or calling your Travelers agent before the snow flies. That way you’re not scrambling to sort it out after an accident.

If you are going to have historical or classic plates you are going to fall into special types of plans. Personal auto plans that most companies offer will not adequately cover what you need. If I backed into another person's car (which was sitting in their driveway), should I file a claim if repairs are estimated to be $2,500?

Hello, Since there is no damage to your vehicle, you would not need to file a claim. However, the person that you hit has the option to file a claim. You can offer to pay for the damages out of pocket to avoid the accident going on your record. Ultimately, it is up to the other party as to whether …
