Insurers rely on age to indicate risk, assigning rates accordingly. A car insurance policy is often expensive for teen drivers — due to their inexperience — and more affordable for middle-aged drivers. Since every insurance company evaluates ages differently, it's wise to compare rates and find great coverage.
As a general rule, teen drivers should choose MetLife instead of Farmers: the former's average annual rates are $84 less than the latter's..
Age tier | Farmers avg. annual premium | MetLife avg. annual premium |
Teens | $6,518 | $6,434 |
20s | $2,020 | $2,457 |
30s | $1,543 | $2,457 |
40s | $1,511 | $1,590 |
50s | $1,507 | $1,520 |
60s | $1,402 | $1,414 |

Recent Questions |
Will my Farmers insurance roadside assistance provide towing up to 250 miles?
Roadside assistance varies by insurance company. From my understanding, most towing and roadside assistance coverage offered as part of an auto policy either has a set dollar amount to cover a tow, covers towing up to 15 miles from your breakdown, or covers towing to the nearest repair facility.
