Question

What discounts does Progressive offer?

I'm trying to cut my car insurance cost and wonder what discounts Progressive offers. I have a newer Subaru, have had one accident in the past five years, and live in a busy area, so my insurance is pretty high already. Do all companies offer the same discounts, or are there different options if I go to different insurers?

Most insurers—especially larger ones like Progressive—offer a variety of discounts to help drivers save money. While some discounts may seem small individually, stacking them can lead to significant savings on your overall bill. Progressive, for example, provides discounts for good students, homeowners, paying in full, using e-signatures, and more. Most big names will offer similar discounts, but it never hurts to ask and see if there are some unique savings opportunities from different companies.

One notable savings option with Progressive is its telematics discount. Progressive’s Snapshot tool tracks driving habits and rewards safe behavior with potential discounts. Other insurers, like State Farm with Drive Safe & Save, offer similar programs. Whether telematics is right for you depends on your comfort level with having a driving tracker in your vehicle. Some drivers appreciate the potential savings, while others prefer to keep their driving habits private.

Progressive also offers a Name Your Price tool, which allows you to input the rate you want to pay, and they'll then show you which coverage matches that price tag.

The best way to save money on car insurance in the long term is to drive safely. There are factors within and outside your control, but avoiding claims and generally being a responsible driver will pay off over time. Drivers with at-fault accidents on their records or those who file multiple claims can see drastic increases in their car insurance rates.
