Question

Why Uber and Lyft ask for vehicle inspection even we have a DMV inspection?

Is it required by law? or they just do it because they want to? As we all know our vehicle needs to pass the inspection to drive it legally. But Uber and Lyft still require inspection (separate inspections). Is it required by law? or they just want to inspect the cars?

You are correct when it comes to the state vehicle inspection. You do have to have your car inspected to drive legally. However, Uber and Lyft have their own guidelines so it may not be required by law but it is required by their company policy. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I'm sorry to hear about the damage (and the sweater!). The good news is that since you are in California, glass claims should not impact your premium. In most locations, it's up to the discretion of the insurer to raise rates based on glass claims but in California, specifically, not-at-fault claim…
