Question

Why Uber and Lyft ask for vehicle inspection even we have a DMV inspection?

Is it required by law? or they just do it because they want to? As we all know our vehicle needs to pass the inspection to drive it legally. But Uber and Lyft still require inspection (separate inspections). Is it required by law? or they just want to inspect the cars?

You are correct when it comes to the state vehicle inspection. You do have to have your car inspected to drive legally. However, Uber and Lyft have their own guidelines so it may not be required by law but it is required by their company policy. Good luck and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Will my Farmers insurance roadside assistance provide towing up to 250 miles?

Roadside assistance varies by insurance company. Yo…

I started a claim but canceled it with no payout. Why is it on my CLUE report?

Unfortunately, if you start the claims process, the insurance company can list it on your CLUE report through LexisNexis which contains your claims history — even if there was no payout or resolution. You can dispute with State Farm to see if they will remove it, but at this point, that is really t…

I'm selling my car and canceling insurance. When I buy another car a few months from now, will I get higher rates for a lapse in coverage?

You are right — having a lapse in coverage will cause your rates to be higher in the future. I recommend getting a non-owners policy, which it sounds like Progressive is already offering to you. This is essentially a liability-only policy when you do not own a vehicle, or are between vehicle owners…
