Car insurance options through Clearcover

Clearcover provides all the auto insurance options that you would expect from most major carriers, including bodily injury and property damage liability, medical payments, comprehensive and collision coverage, uninsured motorist coverage (property damage) and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage (bodily injury). Clearcover doesn’t have an extensive list of additional coverages (otherwise known as endorsements) but many drivers may consider the following coverage add-ons helpful.

rideshare
Rideshare coverage

Clearcover provides rideshare coverage for Uber or Lyft drivers. However, this endorsement does not extend to delivery driver services such as Uber Eats, Doordash, or Grubhub.

alternate transportation
Alternate transportation coverage

Though many other carriers offer similar coverage in the form of rental car reimbursement, Clearcover has expanded this coverage somewhat, providing a daily allowance for transportation costs after a covered claim that renders your vehicle undrivable. This covers costs associated with public transportation, ridesharing services, or rental cars.

tow
Roadside assistance

Roadside assistance can help if you find yourself stranded due to a mechanical or electrical malfunction. This typically covers towing, flat tires, dead batteries and similar circumstances.

Clearcover car insurance discounts

While Clearcover doesn’t list very many car insurance discounts on its website, the company indicates that a number of discounts are baked into each quote based on the customer's driving profile. Essentially, Clearcover aims to offer drivers the lowest possible rate at the onset of each policy. The company advises that drivers can maintain lower rates by keeping a safe driving record, paying your insurance premium upfront, and investing in certain vehicle safety features.

The one discount Clearcover specifically calls out is its active military personnel discount, offering service members a 15% discount. Active duty armed service members in Louisiana receive 25% off on their insurance premiums.

Clearcover mobile app

As a technology-driven insurance company, Clearcover's website and mobile app are rich with features and relatively easy to use. The app boasts high reviews from both the Apple Store (4.8 out of 5 stars) and Google Play (4.6 out of 5 stars) as of April 2022. Clearcover also touts an award for outstanding achievement in mobile development.

The Clearcover mobile app allows policyholders to easily store their ID cardsreview their coverage options, and even file claims. The claims process is done primarily through the mobile app. Called "Clear Claims," the company indicates that claims can be filed 24/7 through the app and that certain eligible claims may even be paid out in 30 minutes or less. After submitting your claim, policyholders are contacted by a claims adjuster to continue with the next steps. While Clearcover says that the current record for claim payment is an astounding 7-minutes, the company says most claims are settled within one week.

The app also provides easy access to Clearcover’s roadside assistance progress, Nation Safe Drivers. With online bill-pay and a number of other features, the Clearcover app offers a relatively easy way of handling your car insurance.

Additional lines of insurance

Clearcover does not offer homeowners or renters insurance. However, Clearcover partners with Hippo, another technology-focused insurance company, that can provide homeowners insurance.

Is Clearcover insurance right for you?

Some may find the company’s young age worrisome, as Clearcover does not yet have outside ratings from trusted sources such as J.D. Power or AM Best.
