Drivers with extraordinary credit — a score of 800 or better — should opt for USAA, which typically beats 21st Century by $523 per year. Check out typical insurance rates by credit level for 21st Century and USAA below.

USAA vs. 21st Century: by citation

If you are carrying an at-fault crash, speeding ticket, reckless driving violation, or DWI on your driving record, USAA could be a better choice than 21st Century. Every car insurance company prices policies differently after a violation, so don't hesitate to shop around to understand which insurer is best for you.

Violation USAA avg. annual premium 21st Century avg. annual premium
At-fault accident (damage < $1,000) $1,304 $2,440
At-fault accident (damage > $1,000) $947 $1,273

Reckless driving $1,472 $3,949

USAA vs. 21st Century: by age

Auto insurance companies use age to outline potential risk, pricing premiums on a sliding scale. Auto insurance is usually most expensive for drivers younger than 25 — due to their inexperience — and more affordable for older drivers. Since each insurance company prices age tiers differently, it's worth comparing rates and shopping around.

As a general rule, teen drivers should choose USAA over 21st Century: USAA offers average yearly savings of $2,369, compared to 21st Century.

Age tier USAA avg. annual premium 21st Century avg. annual premium
Teens $2,864 $5,233
