Question

What do I do if my car is hit by an object that came off of someone else's vehicle?

My wife was on the highway when something flew off a semi truck and hit her SUV. We took down the plate number but aren't sure who will be responsible for the damage since the driver didn't even stop. What should we do?

Filing a police report and contacting your insurance provider would be my recommendation. Doing this allows the police to search for the driver pulling the trailer while your insurance company starts the repair process on your vehicle. The driver of the truck should be responsible, but it may be difficult to locate that person so you should file the claim with your company soon to have the repair process started rather than waiting on the other driver. I hope this helps and best of luck!
