Question

Why is car insurance so expensive in Kentucky?

I only paid like $200 for car insurance in Indiana and moved to bfe in KY and now I'm nearly paying the same amount per month! My car, driving record, credit history, etc haven't changed since then. The only thing that changed is moving to Kentucky.

Kentucky is much more expensive due to their insurance laws. Indiana only requires you carry liability insurance. KY has a law that requires you to carry Personal Injury Protection. This covers medical costs regardless of fault in an accident. You may hear people call it "no-fault" Insurance. This coverage tends to cost a lot more than standard liability insurance. This is the increase you are seeing on new quotes.

In this situation, it can depend. When a driver is excluded from a car insurance policy, this means they are not covered to drive your vehicle. I would contact the police with what info you have. If you have the plate they should be able to locate the owner and either pull his insurance info or track them down to get it again.
