Question

Is Chubb only for wealthy families, or does it work for regular homeowners too?

My husband and I just bought a new place and we’re finally trying to get all our insurance under one roof. A friend suggested Chubb, but I always thought of them as just a “rich people’s” insurance company. We’re comfortable but not wealthy — two cars and a house in the suburbs. Is Chubb really worth looking at for regular families, or is it overkill?

Chubb does market to higher-value households, but that doesn't mean it isn't a solid option for you (depending on your priorities). Where Chubb stands out is in their coverage limits and claim handling. If you own a new or luxury vehicle, for example, Chubb often offers agreed value coverage — meaning if the car is totaled, they’ll pay the full insured amount without depreciation. This isn't the case with all insurers, so owners of luxury vehicles tend to lean toward Chubb as an option for this, and other, unique offerings.

On the home insurance side, they’re known for extended replacement cost coverage and risk consulting to help protect the property before there’s a loss. This isn't necessary for every homeowner, but can be attractive to those who own expensive or unique homes.

For families with both home and auto policies, bundling through Chubb can simplify things and sometimes lead to savings. But even more important, you’ll usually deal with adjusters and service teams who specialize in higher-value assets, which makes the process smoother if something goes wrong.

That said, premiums are often higher than mainstream carriers, which isn't always accessible to people looking to keep rates as low as possible. So it comes down to whether you value the broader coverage and service enough to justify the price.

If you aren't sure what your best options are right now, give our in-house agents a call or start comparing quotes online. We can walk you through the differences to help you find the best fit, whether that is Chubb or another carrier.
