Question

Do I have to pay a deductible if I caused an accident?

I was backing up and hit another car with my bumper. There was no damage to my truck, but I broke their front bumper. When they file a claim with my insurance company, will I be required to pay my deductible?

If you do not file a claim to have your car repaired you do not have to pay your deductible. Your liability insurance will pay for the damages to the other vehicle. Liability coverage does not have a deductible, meaning you will only pay a deductible to have your car repaired if your comprehensive or collision coverage pays for the damages. Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Check out our guide to When and How to File a Car Insurance Claim (featuring a claims calculator) for more information.

You could claim the damage as a hit-and-run, but that's technically not what happened so I would avoid lying to your insurance company. I would recommend getting a repair estimate first so you can factor that into your decision. The only way to avoid causing an increase to your family member&#…

Should I file a claim after hitting a deer with an old vehicle?

It really depends. In Arizona, a totaled vehicle is determined via a total loss formula. Removing a claim from my insurance record

I would recommend getting what's called a CLUE Report. This is a comprehensive loss report. It would show your entire loss history with your name. Show this to your insurance company to prove you did not have an accident. This should remove the claim you are being rated for. Best of luck.

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident!  The best thing to do would be to contact your RV insurance claims department to see how they want to handle the claim. How this claim pays out will be dependent on the details of the accident. They can refer you to your auto insurance claims departmen…
