Can I bundle Progressive car insurance with pet insurance?

I have Progressive car insurance and want to get a pet insurance policy for my new rescue puppy. The website says Progressive uses Pets Best to write their pet policies. Does this qualify for a bundling discount?

Great question! Progressive does not currently offer a bundling discount for having both auto and pet insurance. While you can purchase pet insurance through Progressive’s website, the policy is actually administered by Pets Best, a separate company. Since these two types of policies are underwritten by different providers, they don’t qualify for Progressive’s typical multi-policy discount.

That said, managing both policies in one place can still be convenient. Depending on your situation, Pets Best may offer its own discounts, such as multi-pet or military savings—but those would come directly from Pets Best, not through Progressive’s bundling program.

The bottom line:

  • You can buy pet insurance through Progressive.
  • You won’t receive a bundling discount for it.
  • It’s still worth exploring, especially if you like keeping your insurance in one place.

If you're looking for insurers that offer broader bundling options—including pet insurance—it may be worth comparing plans across other companies, too. It’s smart to look for savings when combining insurance policies, and other companies, such as USAA (with Embrace pet insurance) may offer bundling with pet coverage. It's also a good idea to follow up with companies occasionally; as pet insurance becomes more popular and widely available, we may see some bigger insurers start to offer more bundles for pet and auto or home coverage. It never hurts to ask!

Keep an eye out for other discounts in the meantime, and be sure to shop around for both auto and pet coverage to find the best deal that meets your needs.

What's the difference between an insurance carrier and an insurance agency?

Great question! The word "carrier" in terms of insurance is just a synonym for company. An insurance "agency" is a business that sells insurance coverage through on…
